Why are sidewalls so important?

When most people think about building a terrace, they mainly focus on the roof. “After all, it's about protection from the sun and rain,” they think. This is partly true, but only partly. In practice, the full functionality of the roof is revealed only when we properly arrange its sides.

Imagine the situation: it is a beautiful, sunny day, you are sitting under your canopy, reading a book. Suddenly the wind breaks. Despite the solid roof over your head, the wind easily gets under the canopy, knocks the glasses on the table, scatters the pages of a book, and you feel an unpleasant chill.
