System Walls for Photovoltaic Roof eBloc

The perfect place to relax in your garden - a space that is an extension of your home, but at the same time allows you to enjoy nature. A space that protects from the sun, rain and wind, while maintaining an open character. This is exactly the kind of space you can create with eBlock roofing. But the structure itself and the roof are only the beginning... The key to creating a functional space is properly selected sidewalls.

Why are sidewalls so important?

When most people think about building a terrace, they mainly focus on the roof. “After all, it's about protection from the sun and rain,” they think. This is partly true, but only partly. In practice, the full functionality of the roof is revealed only when we properly arrange its sides.

Imagine the situation: it is a beautiful, sunny day, you are sitting under your canopy, reading a book. Suddenly the wind breaks. Despite the solid roof over your head, the wind easily gets under the canopy, knocks the glasses on the table, scatters the pages of a book, and you feel an unpleasant chill. Or another situation: the afternoon sun shines from the side, right in your eyes, and you have to change places to be able to continue relaxing.

“Two years ago we installed an ordinary roof without walls,” says Anna from Krakow. “We thought that was enough. But we quickly found that without proper side cover, the space under the roof was exposed to everything the wind brought - from leaves and pollen to rain falling at an angle. After a year we decided to install the side walls and it was the best decision we could have made.”

Privacy is also a challenge. Even if your garden is fenced, being under a canopy without side walls is often like sitting on a stage — everything you do is visible to your neighbors. And yet the terrace is supposed to be your private relaxation area, where you can feel at ease.

Another issue is how much the perceived air temperature changes when we are protected from the wind. Studies show that at the same ambient temperature, a space sheltered from the wind can seem as much as 5-7°C warmer! This means that properly selected sidewalls can extend the period of use of the terrace in early spring and late autumn.

Fortunately, eBloc modular roofing offers several different solutions that allow you to adapt the building level to your individual needs. Each has its own unique benefits and uses, so you can create a space that is perfectly suited to your lifestyle and needs.

Variety of solutions - which wall to choose?

The eBloc system allows the use of different types of sidewalls, which can be freely combined with each other or used interchangeably, depending on the needs and the season. Let's look at the available options:

1. ZIP Screen blinds - flexible all-weather protection

ZIP Screen blinds are one of the most versatile solutions available in the eBloc system. Unlike traditional blinds, the ZIP system uses a special mechanism to hold the fabric in the guides, which provides extraordinary resistance to wind.

“We decided to use ZIP blinds on our roof because we wanted to be able to quickly adapt the space to changing conditions,” says Marek, owner of a house with a garden in Poznań. “What I value most is that we can lower and raise them as needed. When it is hot, we lower them partially to block the sun but keep the view of the garden. When a strong wind blows, we lower them completely, creating a cozy interior.”

ZIP blinds are available in different degrees of fabric transparency, from completely transparent, which protects from the wind but preserves the view, to completely opaque, for complete privacy. Moreover, special screen fabrics effectively block the sun's rays, while allowing air to flow freely, which prevents the greenhouse effect on hot days.

A great advantage of ZIP blinds is also the possibility of their integration with the photovoltaic system. The roller shutter cassette can be equipped with a photovoltaic module that powers the roller shutter motor, eliminating the need for power supply. It is an ecological and practical solution that adds another dimension of self-sufficiency to the eBloc roof.

2. Fixed glass walls - elegance and panoramic view

For those who value an unobstructed view of the garden, but at the same time need effective protection from wind and rain, solid glass walls are the ideal solution. This elegant solution allows you to partially close the space under the canopy, creating a kind of winter garden that can be used even in colder weather.

Solid glass walls provide excellent insulation from wind and rain while maintaining full visibility of the garden. On sunny days, glass transmits light, creating a bright, cozy space, but at the same time protects from gusts of wind that could interfere with rest.

“The fixed glass walls were a hit,” says Karolina, an interior architect and owner of a house near Warsaw. “They allow us to use the terrace from early spring to late autumn. In addition, we have the impression of being in a spacious, glazed living room overlooking the entire garden. It's like an extra room that we can use most of the year.”

It is worth mentioning that the glass walls in the eBlock systemcan be combined with other types of walls. For example, from the south side, where the sun operates most strongly, you can use ZIP blinds, and from the north, where the view is most beautiful - glass walls.

Complementing the whole - floor and lamella walls

In addition to ZIP blinds and sliding glass walls, the eBloc system offers several other solutions to consider when designing your lounge area.

1. Aluminum lamellas with photovoltaics - an innovative 2 in 1 solution

One of the most innovative elements of the eBloc system is the aluminum lamellas integrated into the photovoltaic modules. This solution combines the function of the side wall with the production of electricity, which is perfectly in line with the trend of sustainable construction.

The slats can be mounted both horizontally and vertically, creating a visually striking partition that simultaneously protects from wind and sun. Depending on the needs, the lamellas can be set at different angles, which allows you to adjust the degree of privacy and the amount of light entering the interior.

“We decided on a wall of photovoltaic lamellas on the south side,” says Tomasz, who installed the eBloc system in his garden. “This solution has a triple function - it protects against too intense sun, provides privacy from the street side and at the same time generates energy that powers the LED lighting throughout the structure. It's a really thoughtful solution.”

Importantly, the photovoltaic lamellas in the eBloc system are designed to blend harmoniously with the entire structure. Their minimalist design makes the whole look modern and elegant, while being highly functional.

2. Floor - the foundation of comfort

An often overlooked but extremely important element of a terrace roof is the floor. In the eBloc system, you can choose an option with a floor made of WPC composite boards or traditional wooden boards, mounted on an aluminum frame.

The floor not only provides a comfortable and even walking surface, but also defines the canopy space, creating a clear border between the interior and the garden. This is especially useful when the canopy is set on a lawn or uneven surface.

WPC composite boards are extremely durable, weather-resistant and do not require impregnation. Available in a variety of colors and finishes, they allow the floor to match the style of the canopy and the entire garden.

“At first we thought that the floor was an unnecessary expense,” admits Agnieszka, who installed eBloc in her garden. “But after a year of using roofing directly on the lawn, we decided to install a composite plank floor. It has completely changed the way we use this space. Now we can go out there even in slippers, without worrying about wet grass, and the whole space looks more cohesive and elegant.”

The eBloc system offers a comprehensive approach to creating a relaxing space in the garden. With a variety of sidewall and floor options, you can create a canopy perfectly tailored to your individual needs and preferences. Whether the priority is maximum weather protection, unobstructed garden views or energy production, eBloc offers a solution to meet these expectations.

Remember that the best effects are achieved by combining different types of walls depending on the orientation to the sides of the world and the surroundings. Think about where the wind blows most often, where you need the most privacy, and where you care about preserving the view - so you will create a space that will serve you for many years, regardless of the season and weather conditions.
