When we started working on eTile solar tiles, we faced a serious challenge. The traditional manual production of photovoltaic panels, although common in the industry, has not guaranteed the level of precision necessary for a product that must simultaneously function as a tight roofing and an efficient energy source.

Anyone who has been involved in the construction of a house knows that the reality on the construction site often differs from the project. This is especially noticeable with the construction of the roof, where differences of even a few centimeters can cause serious complications when installing roofing. This problem becomes even more complex when we talk about solar roofs, which combine the functions of roofing and photovoltaic installation.

When we started working with over-integrated solar roofs in 2016, the photovoltaic market in Poland increased exponentially. Imported products from Asia predominated, and photovoltaic installations were mainly mounted on solar farms. However, we saw that the future belongs to solutions integrated into architecture, especially single-family buildings.

Remember the times when buying photovoltaics was like buying a vacuum cleaner? The seller showed the catalog, praised the technical characteristics, and after signing the contract disappeared from the horizon. The client was left alone with hundreds of questions and doubts, often regretting the decision made. Fortunately, those times have passed.

The beginnings of building-integrated photovoltaics were not easy. I remember talking to an experienced roofer who looked at our first prototype solar roof tile and said, “This is never going to work. Either it will leak or it will stop producing electricity.” This honest opinion showed us the scale of the challenge we faced.
