Installation Excellence - Perfect Installation

The beginnings of building-integrated photovoltaics were not easy. I remember talking to an experienced roofer who looked at our first prototype solar roof tile and said, “This is never going to work. Either it will leak or it will stop producing electricity.” This honest opinion showed us the scale of the challenge we faced.

Perfect Installation: How We Combine Traditional Roofing with Solar Technology

From Challenge to Solution

The traditional approach to installing photovoltaic installations has assumed that roofers first lay the roof, and then PV installers come and mount the panels on the finished roof. The effect? Often damaged roofing, warranty problems and leaks that appear after a few years. Not to mention that the installation looked like a foreign element added to the roof.

The turning point came when we decided to combine these two worlds. Instead of treating the roof and photovoltaics as separate components, we created a system that integrates them already at the production stage. But technology itself is not everything - we needed contractors who could properly mount such a solution.

This is how our solar roofer certification program was born. We started from scratch - analyzing common assembly errors and problem situations. We have worked with the best roofers and photovoltaic installers to create a complete training system. The program has evolved over the years, enriched with real-world experience from construction sites.

Today, our certified contractors are the industry's elite — professionals combining traditional roofing skills with advanced knowledge of photovoltaic systems. Each of them undergoes intensive practical training in our training center, where they can practice all stages of assembly on specially prepared stands. This is no ordinary product training - it is a complete professional development program.

Most importantly, the certification program does not end with certification. We regularly organize refresher workshops, where contractors can learn about the latest solutions and exchange experiences. We have also created a system of mutual support, where more experienced contractors help those who are just starting to work with our system.

Assembly Excellence Process

Imagine that you are building an airplane. Each screw must be tightened with the appropriate force, each connection must be perfect. It is the same with the installation of a solar roof - there is no room for compromises or “somehow it will be”. That is why we have created a comprehensive system that guarantees the highest quality at every stage of assembly.

The training of the performer begins with a theoretical basis. First, he needs to understand how the system works, what the critical assembly points are, and why we do certain things in a certain way. It is not enough to know “how” - it is necessary to understand “why”. This is the fundamental difference between a regular installer and a certified Electrotile contractor.

After the theory comes the time for practice. In our training center, contractors practice on full-size mock-ups of roofs. They learn how to properly lay the membrane, install cable trays, conduct wiring and, of course, install the modules themselves. We pay special attention to finishing details - processing at chimneys, installation of roof windows or finishing of the ridge.

But even the best-trained contractor needs support at the construction site. Therefore, every first installation is carried out under the supervision of an experienced Electrotile supervisor. This is not an ordinary check - it is active support and the transfer of practical knowledge. The supervisor not only checks the compliance of the assembly with the procedures, but also shares tricks and solutions developed over the years of experience.

A key element of the process is the accurate documentation of each stage of the assembly. The contractor fills out a detailed control sheet, documenting all critical points of the installation. It is not bureaucracy - it is a tool that helps maintain the highest standards and gives us full transparency of the process. In case of any doubt, we can always go back to the documentation and check how the assembly went.

We have also implemented a system of ongoing quality control. Each installation is photographed at key stages and the photos are analyzed by our technical department. This allows us to catch potential problems before they become actual faults. At the same time, we build a knowledge base that helps us to constantly improve the assembly process.

Benefits and Future

Proper installation is the foundation for many years of trouble-free operation of the solar roof. I remember the situation from one of our first installations - an experienced roofer spent almost an hour refining the processing of the chimney. Some would say it's a waste of time, but after seven years, the roof is still perfectly sealed and running at full capacity. This is the best proof that precision and attention to detail pays off.

Our experience from the construction site shows that proper installation translates into all aspects of the functioning of the system. Properly installed cable troughs provide effective ventilation, which affects the performance of panels on hot days. Precisely made sheet metal treatments not only guarantee tightness, but also make the entire roof look aesthetically pleasing. And professionally carried out wiring is a guarantee of safe and stable operation of the system for many years.

Mounting technology is constantly evolving. We work with our contractors, collecting their comments and suggestions. It is thanks to them that we have introduced, for example, a new cable routing system or improved mounting profiles. Each such innovation is a step towards even better quality and faster assembly. The point is not to work faster at the expense of quality, but to work smarter, eliminating unnecessary difficulties.

We also see how the profession of roofer itself is changing. More and more young people are interested in this profession, seeing in it not only a traditional craft, but also a modern profession related to green energy. Our certified contractors are no longer just roofers — they are specialists in integrated energy systems. This evolution of the profession is a response to the changing needs of the market and the growing requirements for the energy efficiency of buildings.

That is why we are constantly developing our support program for contractors. In addition to training and certification, we offer access to specialized tools, training materials and technical support. We organize industry meetings, where contractors can exchange experiences and learn about the latest trends. It is an investment in the future - not just of our company, but of the entire industry.

Looking ahead, we see that the role of skilled performers will only grow. With the development of solar technologies and the stricter requirements for the energy efficiency of buildings, the need for specialists combining different competences will increase. Our certification program is not only a way to ensure the highest quality installation — it is an investment in the future of green building.
