The problem of standard aesthetics

I first noticed this problem when visiting my friend Anna, who proudly showed me around her newly purchased house. Everything was perfectly chosen - a facade in a warm shade of sand beige, graphite windows, an elegant fence. And then I saw this — a silver-gray photovoltaic carport that looked like an element taken straight from the industrial plan. “It's temporary,” she explained with embarrassment, “but we had no choice - the manufacturer only offered this color.”

Anna's story is no exception. Most homeowners face a similar dilemma when they decide to install a photovoltaic carport. The standard designs available on the market offer a frighteningly limited color palette — typically natural aluminum, white and black, and sometimes anthracite. This is definitely not enough to match the structure to the individual character of the house.

“Customers often abandon the photovoltaic carport precisely because of aesthetic limitations,” explains Marek Kowalski, an architect with 15 years of experience. “The carport is not just a functional element — it is an important architectural component that has a huge impact on the overall appearance of the property. Imagine an elegant burgundy-colored house with a matching fence and gate — and a bright white carport next to it. Such a contrast can ruin the whole carefully planned aesthetic.”

The problem is even more serious in the case of buildings with unusual colors or in locations with strict requirements for uniformity of buildings. This is especially felt by residents of settlements with regulations regarding the coloring of buildings and owners of real estate in conservation protection zones.

“In my practice, I encountered the case of an investor who had to dismantle the newly installed carport because its silver color did not comply with the local guidelines of the historic conservator,” recalls Adam Wiśniewski, photovoltaic advisor. “He lost not only time and money, but also his enthusiasm for green solutions.”

Another problem is the quality of finishing standard structures. Typical carports often have visible joints, inaccurately finished edges or inelegant fastenings. These details may seem like trifles, but it is they who decide whether the design looks professional and elegant, or rather like a makeshift solution.

Market research conducted by the Institute of Landscape Architecture found that as many as 78% of potential customers consider aesthetics to be one of the three most important factors when choosing a photovoltaic carport. At the same time, 64% of them expressed dissatisfaction with the personalization options available on the market.

“People invest significant amounts of money in their homes, perfectly selecting every element — from doorknobs to patio tiles. Why would they compromise on such a visible element as the carport?” — asks Joanna Majewska, interior and exterior designer rhetorically. “Especially since it is often a structure located on the front of the property, visible to all passers-by and visitors.”

Paradoxically, it is precisely this lack of personalization that makes solutions that should be associated with modernity and prestige, often perceived as cheap and reducing the value of real estate. A structure that does not harmonize with the rest of the property can be perceived as a temporary element, not fitting into the overall architectural concept.

The solution - personalization possibilities

When Tomasz Nowak, the owner of a modern villa near Warsaw, began searching for the perfect photovoltaic carport, he was prepared for compromises. “I thought I would have to choose between functionality and aesthetics. Then I came across Carport Premium with full customization — that changed everything,” he recalls.

The revolution in the approach to the personalization of photovoltaic carports consists primarily in moving away from thinking of these structures as purely utilitarian elements of infrastructure. Instead, modern solutions treat the carport as an integral element of home architecture — as aesthetically important as the facade or the fence.

State-of-the-art premium carports today offer personalization at a level previously unavailable. “We have introduced the full RAL color palette, which gives customers access to more than 200 standard shades,” explains Piotr Kowalczyk, product expert at Electrotile. “This means that we can perfectly match the color of the structure to the existing garage door, facade elements or even fence details. The customer no longer has to compromise.”

In practice, the personalization process begins at the design stage. Specialists analyze the color scheme of the existing architecture, the lighting conditions of the property and the personal preferences of the client. Based on this, specific color and finishing solutions are proposed.

A particularly interesting option is the brushed stainless steel finish. This material not only looks extremely elegant, but also exhibits exceptional resistance to weather conditions. “Brushed stainless steel is the choice of customers who value industrial, modern style. It gives the effect of exclusivity and at the same time perfectly harmonizes with different architectural styles — from minimalist modernism to more classical forms,” explains Magdalena Witkowska, an architect specializing in the design of small architecture.

The technology for such extensive customization is based on advanced powder coating processes. Unlike traditional methods, powder coating provides an even, durable coating that is resistant to discoloration, scratches and other mechanical damage. In addition, the paints used in this process do not contain volatile organic compounds, which makes them more environmentally friendly.

“In the case of powder coating of the carport structure, proper pre-treatment of the material is key,” explains Andrzej Stępienus, a technologist at a company specializing in metal finishes. “Each piece is thoroughly cleaned, degreased and treated with anti-corrosion before being coated with powder paint. The components then go to the furnace, where the paint melts and binds to the substrate, creating a uniform, durable coating.”

However, personalization is not limited to the color of the main structure. Modern carports also offer the possibility to choose the color and style of complementary elements - from gutters, through the lighting system, to details masking technical elements.

“We take care of every detail, even the smallest detail,” emphasizes Kowalczyk. “Wire covers, junction boxes, fasteners — all of these can be designed to fit perfectly into the whole. For Carport Premium, we also offer personalized LED lighting that can be integrated into a smart home system.”

It is worth noting that the personalization of the carport goes hand in hand with high build quality. Precise cuts, perfect welds, precise edge finishing — all these elements make for an overall premium feel. “When a customer chooses Carport Premium in a personalized color, they receive a product in which every element has been refined with the utmost care. It's not just a painted structure — it's a well-thought-out design, tailored to individual needs and tastes,” concludes Kowalczyk.

For the most demanding customers, there is also a customisation option on a special order, going beyond the standard RAL palette. It includes the possibility of using colors from the NCS palette, special structural effects or even custom finishes such as imitation wood or concrete.

Benefits of Premium Personalization

“When we finished the installation of a personalized carport in a color perfectly matched to the garage door, the customer left the house, looked at the whole and was literally moved,” recalls Marek Dąbrowski, an installer with many years of experience. “He told me that for the first time he feels his property finally looks the way he dreamed it would. It was then that I realized how profound an impact personalization can have on an owner's emotional connection to their property.”

The benefits of choosing a premium carport with the possibility of full customization go far beyond the obvious aesthetic qualities. The coherent, harmonious space of the property affects not only the daily experience of the residents, but also the perception of the property by others - neighbors, guests, and in the future potential buyers.

Real estate research consistently shows that architectural consistency and attention to detail have a direct impact on the value of a home. According to a report by the Institute for the Development of Living Space, properties with a thoughtful, harmonious aesthetic achieve a price higher by an average of 8-12% compared to similar objects with a patchy architectural style.

“When a potential buyer looks at the house, the first impression is formed in the first 90 seconds — this is when the brain processes visual information and formulates an initial assessment,” explains Dr. Katarzyna Nowak, a specialist in the psychology of space perception. “If someone sees an elegant house and a mismatched, standard carport next to it, they subconsciously categorize the whole as' unfinished 'or 'in need of additional investment.' Meanwhile, the visual consistency of all elements creates the impression of completeness and high quality, which directly translates into perceived value.”

Personalization of the premium carport also brings psychological benefits for the owners. Research on the psychology of housing proves that a sense of agency and the ability to express our individuality through the space in which we live is one of the key factors influencing our satisfaction with where we live.

“The ability to adapt each element of the property to their own aesthetic vision gives the owner a sense of control and satisfaction,” explains Joanna Kowalska, environmental psychologist. “We stop being passive consumers of standard solutions and become active creators of our space. This significantly increases the level of identification with the place and the overall satisfaction with life.”

The history of the Nowak State illustrates these relationships well. After buying a home in the historic district, they faced the challenge of installing a photovoltaic carport that would meet the strict requirements of a heritage conservator. “Initially, we were told that this was impossible — none of the standard models met the color and aesthetic requirements,” recalls Ms Nowak. “Only a company offering full personalization has found a solution. They chose a color that perfectly matched the historic brick of our house, and the structure was designed to evoke the historic character of the neighborhood. Today, our carport not only produces energy, but also collects compliments from neighbors and was even appreciated by the monument conservator himself as an example of a successful combination of modern technology with historic buildings.”

Customizing a premium carport is also an investment in durability. High-quality finishes, such as powder coating in the full RAL palette or brushed stainless steel, are characterized by many times greater resistance to weather conditions than standard solutions.

“Brushed stainless steel even after 20 years looks practically the same as on the day of installation, and its maintenance requires minimal effort,” emphasizes Andrzej Wiśniewski, specialist in building materials. “In the case of powder coatings, one can speak of a durability of the order of 15-20 years without significant loss of color or protective properties. This is significantly longer than standard finishes, which may need to be renewed after as little as 5-7 years.”

This premium longevity translates into real savings in the long term. While the initial investment in a personalized premium carport may be higher, the total cost of ownership over a period of 15-20 years often turns out to be lower than with cheaper solutions that require regular renovations.

It is also worth mentioning the additional benefit, which is the personal satisfaction of having a unique solution, perfectly tailored to your own needs and taste. “When I see my carport perfectly harmonizing with the color of the windows and doors, I feel that everything is as it should be,” says Mr. Kowalski, owner of the personalized premium carport. “It may seem like a trifle, but this harmony gives me real pleasure every time I come home.”

All in all, premium personalization is much more than just an aesthetic addition — it's a comprehensive approach to space design that brings tangible benefits both emotionally and financially. In a world where we place an increasing emphasis on individualism and tailoring products to our unique needs, a personalized premium carport is becoming a natural choice for conscious property owners who do not compromise on quality and aesthetics.
