eTile Step — minimalist flat horizontal solar tile for pitched roofs

What makes eTile Step different?
Imagine a flat, elegant tile that blends harmoniously with the bulk of a modern building. Now add to that the ability to generate clean solar energy. This is exactly what eTile Step is - an innovative solar system based on horizontally arranged photovoltaic modules integrated into a flat sheet metal roof.
The eTile Step system is based on Ruukki's proven Hyygge flat roof tile technology, which we have enriched with our proprietary photovoltaic solutions. This is not an accidental choice - Ruukki is a recognized European manufacturer whose products have proven themselves for years on the most demanding Scandinavian roofs.
How does the eTile Step system work?
At the heart of the system is a module with a width of 1200mm and a height of 290mm, which you can lay out in two ways: in a traditional linear layout or - which is especially popular in modern projects - in a “brick” layout. This flexibility allows architects to create unique designs on the roof that emphasize the character of the building.
Each module is equipped with a special system of locks: lateral slide type and horizontal (male and female) click type. Sounds technical? In practice, this means that the tiles join together like precisely matched blocks, creating a tight and durable surface. Moreover, this system significantly facilitates installation - an experienced roofer will feel with it like a fish in water.
Who is eTile Step for?
The system will work particularly well in:
- Modern single-family homes where minimalist aesthetics matter
- Designs that combine traditional body with modern touches
- Buildings where we care about an unusual, distinctive appearance of the roof
- Objects requiring a harmonious combination of design and ecology
Safety and durability
Like all eTile products, the Step system is designed for extreme conditions. The combination of high quality steel with tempered solar glass creates a surface resistant to hail, strong winds or snow. The system has undergone rigorous strength tests, including tests for resistance to loads up to 5400 Pa - this is the equivalent of a layer of snow several tens of centimeters thick.
Assembly and service
One of the key advantages of the eTile Step system is its modularity. In case of damage to a single element, it is possible to replace it without having to dismantle the entire surface. This is especially important for the long-term use of a solar roof.
From project to implementation
If you are considering the eTile Step system, our designers will help you plan your roof layout optimally. We will analyze the insolation, slope angles and potential shading to propose a solution ideally suited to your energy needs and aesthetic preferences.

Did you know that... The horizontal layout of eTile Step modules not only looks great, but also allows more efficient use of the roof surface in case of unusual angles of inclination? This solution is especially useful in projects with large glazing or dormer windows.
