eTile solar roof tile installation - introduction

A. Step-by-step assembly process
We start the installation of the eTile as a regular roof - from the membrane and patching. The only difference is the additional cable troughs that we install between the patches. Then we lay the eTile panels very much like a regular sheet metal tile or a sheet for a seam. The difference is that in addition to mechanical fastening, we also connect electrical plugs to each other - these are the same connectors as in ordinary photovoltaics.
We can divide the whole process into several main stages:
· Preparation of the roof structure and installation of the membrane
· Installation of counter-battens and battens in the spacing:
o eTile Classic: 400 mm between patch axes
o eTile Flat: 250 mm between patch axes
o eTile Step: 290 mm between patch axes
· Arrangement of cable trays and return cable
· Installation of sheet metal in inactive parts (without panels)
· Laying of eTile panels with connecting wires
· Execution of machining and finishing
B. What to pay special attention to
The most important control points when installing eTile are:
· Retain patch spacing exactly every 240mm
· The correct location of the troughs for the wires
· Correct connection of electrical plugs
· Tight execution of all machining
In places where the wires will pass (e.g. at the chimney or window) we use ordinary sheet metal without photovoltaic panels. Thanks to this, we can perform standard roofing treatments.
C. Who can assemble eTile
For assembly, you need a team consisting of:
· Roofers with experience in sheet metal (minimum 2 people)
· Electricians with rights to photovoltaic installations
Before the first installation, you need to undergo a short training at Electrotile. We will show you all the technical details and give you practical tips. After that, you can already mount the eTile yourself on subsequent roofs.
Detailed instructions for each step of the assembly can be found in the following articles of our guide. Please refer specifically to the sections on:
· Preparing the roof structure
· Membrane stacking and latching
· Installation of cable trays
· Installation of eTile panels
· Carrying out machining
