Preparation of the roof structure

A. Checking the structure before starting work

Before you begin installation, carefully inspect the condition of the roof structure. Pay special attention to:

· Roof diagonals - they must be equal

· Flatness of the slopes - check with a patch of 2 meters

· Condition of rafters - they must not be rotten or cracked

· The distance between the rafters - it should be regular, usually every 80-90 cm

If you notice any irregularities, report them to the construction manager. It is better to fix problems now than to hide them under the roof later.

B. Necessary tools and materials

For the preparation of the structure you will need:

Basic tools:

· Roofing hammer

· Roll-up and inch measuring cup

· 2m level

· Rear cord

· Screwdriver with bits

Materials:

· High vapor permeable roof membrane

· Counterlats 40x60mm

· Patches 40x60mm

· Wood screws 4x60mm

· Ring nails 3x80mm

C. Key control points

1. Check the spacing of the patches - it must be exactly 240mm (measure several times)

2. Check the verticality of the counter battens - use a level

3. Make sure the membrane is tight and without kinks

4. Check the fixing of each patch - minimum 2 screws for each intersection with counterlatch

5. Verify the stability of the whole structure - there can be no loose elements

Remember: The quality of the preparation of the structure directly affects the tightness of the roof and the durability of the eTile system. Do not try to speed up the work at the expense of accuracy.

D. Common Mistakes to Avoid

· Too weak fixing of patches and counter-battens

· Irregular patch spacing

· Uneven slab planes

· Inaccurate windproof membrane protection

· Failure to check the diagonals of the roof
