Comparison of available sun protection solutions

Types of external shields and their characteristics
Let's start with an overview of the main types of external covers available on the market. Each of them has its own unique characteristics and advantages, which are worth knowing before making a decision.
Outdoor roller blinds
Outdoor blinds are a classic solution that many of us have known for years. Made of aluminum slats, they provide effective protection from the sun and additionally perform an anti-burglary function. Their main advantage is comprehensive protection - not only from the sun, but also from noise and burglary attempts. They can reduce heat gain by up to 90%.
However, roller blinds also have their limitations. When they leave, they completely cut us off from the outside world and natural light. In practice, this means that we often have to choose between sun protection and access to daylight. This solution works great in bedrooms or rooms that require periodic blackout, but may not be ideal for living spaces.
Facade blinds
Facade blinds are a more advanced solution that gives you more control over the amount of light entering. They consist of horizontal slats, the angle of inclination of which we can adjust. This allows you to precisely control the amount of light without having to completely darken the room.
Facade blinds are especially popular in modern office buildings and apartment buildings. Their effectiveness in reducing heat gains is about 75-85%, depending on the arrangement of the lamellas. However, they have one significant drawback - they are prone to strong winds. At speeds exceeding 40 km/h, they must be rolled up, which limits their functionality on windy days.
It is useful to know: Facade blinds, although they offer great light control, require regular maintenance. It is recommended to clean and lubricate the mechanisms at least twice a year to maintain their operability.
Zip-screen systems
Zip-screen systems are the most modern solution on the sun visor market. They use a special technical fabric that moves in the side guides equipped with a system of zippers. What distinguishes these systems is the ability to maintain eye contact with the environment while providing effective protection from the sun.
The fabrics used in zip-screen systems are available in different degrees of light transmission (from 1% to 10%), which allows you to choose the perfect solution for your specific needs. What's more, these systems are extremely wind resistant - they can work in gusts of up to 120 km/h, making them an ideal choice for places exposed to strong gusts of wind.
