Easy modular assembly - a fencing system that you can assemble without specialist knowledge

Installing a fence with photovoltaic panels can give even experienced contractors a headache. “I remember how on one of the first installations of a traditional solar fence we spent more than a week trying to match elements from different manufacturers,” recalls Marek, an installer with 15 years of experience. “It turned out that the panels have a different mounting distance than the intended design, and the cable routing system was not thought out at all. As a result, we had to improvise, which not only increased the assembly time, but also compromised the safety of the entire installation.”

problem

This story is no exception. The installation of a traditional photovoltaic fence usually requires the involvement of at least three different teams: roofers for the construction of the fence, electricians for the photovoltaic installation and additionally automatics to connect control and lighting systems. Each of these teams works according to their own standards, uses different tools and has a different approach to installation.

The problem begins already at the foundation stage. Standard photovoltaic fences require very precise spacing of the posts - even a small error can prevent the panels from being installed later or cause them to be placed incorrectly. “I had a case where an error in the spacing of the posts by only 2 centimeters caused the panels to not be installed correctly,” says Tomasz, another contractor. “We had to redo the entire structure, which entailed additional costs and a delay of several days.”

Another challenge is wiring. In traditional solutions, the wires are often conducted in a makeshift way - they lie directly on the structural elements or are fastened with clamps, which degrade over time under the influence of weather conditions. This not only spoils the aesthetics of the fence, but above all creates the risk of damage to the wires and the occurrence of short circuits.

It is especially problematic to combine elements from different manufacturers. “We often encounter a situation where elements theoretically fit together, in practice require additional processing or modification,” explains Piotr, designer of photovoltaic systems. “This not only complicates the assembly, but can also lead to the loss of the manufacturer's warranty.”

All these problems translate into extended lead times and increased installation costs. Moreover, any additional interference with the structure or improvised solutions increases the risk of defects in the future. As service statistics show, more than 60% of failures in traditional photovoltaic fences are due precisely to assembly errors or incompatibility of elements.

“The most frustrating thing is that problems often only come out after a while,” Marek adds. “When after a year or two the fence starts to wobble, the panels lose stability or there are problems with the electronics, it is very difficult to determine who is responsible. Each contractor puts the blame on the others and ends up leaving the customer alone with the problem.”

Solution

In response to these challenges, the eFence system was designed from the ground up as a fully modular solution, where all the components fit together perfectly. Instead of combining components from different manufacturers, you get a complete system that can be mounted like Lego bricks.

“When I first saw the eFence system, I was skeptical. It seemed to me that it was too simple,” admits Marek. “But already at the first assembly, I understood how thoughtful this design is. Everything just fits together.”

The basis of the system are massive 100x100mm aluminum posts, which form a solid foundation of the entire structure. The posts can be mounted in two ways - with the help of anchors recessed into the foundation from above, or with the use of side supports, which gives flexibility to adapt to off-road conditions.

The system uses a proprietary solution for mounting spans. “This is probably the most innovative element of the whole system,” explains Piotr, product engineer at Electrotile. “The spans are inserted into special guides in the posts from above. There are no screws or welds - you just slide the piece in and it's ready. And most importantly, such an assembly guarantees perfect stability and vertical preservation.”

The wiring has also been thought out to the smallest detail. Each span has built-in cable troughs, and wires are routed inside the structure. “This is a huge difference compared to traditional solutions” - emphasizes Tomasz. “There are no hanging cables, everything is tucked away and weatherproof.”

To assemble the eFence system, you only need basic tools - a level, anchor wrenches and a screwdriver. No welding, cutting or any specialized skills are required. “It's a really well-thought-out system,” confirms Marek. “One crew is able to do the entire installation, including the electrical connection.”

The manufacturer provides a detailed assembly instruction that guides the installer step by step. “This is not an ordinary instruction with several drawings,” explains Peter. “We have detailed guidelines for each stage, along with checklists and guidance on what to look out for.”

What's more, Electrotile offers technical support at every stage of implementation. “Before the first installation, we conduct free training for contractors,” adds Piotr. “And in case of any doubts during assembly, our experts are available under the phone and can advise the best solution.”

The system is also prepared for possible expansion. “This is another great feature,” emphasizes Tomasz. “If the customer wants to add more spans later or replace the inactive panels with photovoltaic, the whole operation is very simple and does not require interference with the existing structure.”

Benefits

The use of modular design in the eFence system brings tangible benefits for both contractors and end users. “The assembly time has been reduced by an average of 60% compared to traditional solutions” - reports Marek, who has already installed more than a dozen systems. “What we used to do in a week, now takes 2-3 days.”

This time saving translates directly into lower installation costs. “Not only do we work on the construction site for a shorter period of time, but we also don't have to involve additional specialists,” explains Tomasz. “One crew is able to perform the entire installation, which significantly reduces labor costs.”

The simplicity of installation also minimizes the risk of execution errors. “In traditional systems, up to 30% of installations require some kind of correction or additional service visits in the first year,” says Piotr from Electrotile technical support. “For eFence, this rate has fallen below 5%, and most of the reports are for minor adjustments, not major glitches.”

The modular design also gives great flexibility in the implementation of the project. Mr. Andrzej, the owner of a house near Warsaw, decided to install the system in stages: “First we made a basic fence with several active panels. After a year, when I became convinced of the technology, we added more photovoltaic modules. The whole operation took one day and went without the slightest problems.”

It is also worth highlighting the service aspect. “If an element is damaged, for example as a result of vandalism, the replacement is very simple,” explains Tomasz. “It is enough to slide out the damaged span and slide in a new one. There is no need to dismantle entire sections or complex repairs on site.”

The system also performs well in difficult off-road conditions. “We had a project on a plot with a considerable slope,” Marek recalls. “Thanks to the possibility of adjusting the height of the fastening of the spans, it was possible to perfectly fit the fence into the site, while maintaining all the technical and aesthetic parameters.”

User reviews confirm the advantages of the system. “After three years of use, the fence looks and works like new,” says Mr Andrzej. “There were no problems with the electronics, the design is stable, and the panels continue to generate energy according to the parameters. It was a good investment.”

The installers are especially pleased. “The eFence system has changed our approach to photovoltaic fences,” concludes Marek. “Now we can focus on the quality of workmanship, not on solving technical problems. And a satisfied customer is the best advertisement for us.”

Electrotile is constantly developing the system, based on the experience of implementation. “We listen to the voices of performers and users,” says Piotr. “Each new version of the system includes improvements that further simplify installation and increase the reliability of the entire structure.”
