The design of photovoltaic systems integrated into the building (BIPV) involves certain formal and legal requirements. In this guide, we'll go through all the necessary documents and certifications you'll need when designing with Electrotile systems.

Basic technical documentation

Let's start with the documents that are absolutely necessary in any project. Electrotile products have a set of certifications required in construction, which greatly facilitates the design process and subsequent obtaining of permits.

The key document is the Declaration of Performance, which confirms the compliance of eTILE systems with building standards. It contains all the relevant technical parameters, including:

  • Fire classification
  • Waterproofness
  • Resistance to wind load
  • Mechanical strength
  • Water vapor permeability

Importantly, our systems are designed to meet the same standards as traditional roofing. This means that you can treat them in the documentation exactly the same as a standard sheet metal tile or a sheet for a seam.

Electrical documentation

As eTILE systems combine the functions of roofing and photovoltaic installation, they also require electrical documentation. In this regard, we provide:

  • Certificates of compliance with standards for photovoltaic systems
  • Technical data sheets of electrical components
  • Wiring diagrams and system documentation
  • Safety and Grounding Guidelines

It is particularly important that our systems are fully compatible with standard photovoltaic system components, which greatly simplifies the design process.

Requirements for different types of buildings

Documentation requirements may vary depending on the type of building. For example:

For single-family houses, standard technical and electrical documentation is usually sufficient. eTILE systems can be included in a building project as roofing by adding information about their photovoltaic function.

For multi-family or commercial buildings, additional documents are often required, especially in the field of fire safety. The BROOF certificate (t1) is crucial here, which confirms the incombustibility of our systems.

Documents for installations over 6.5 kW

When designing larger installations (over 6.5 kW), additional requirements should be borne in mind:

The system requires agreement with a fire safety appraiser. We provide a set of documents needed for such an arrangement, including:

  • Detailed technical specification
  • Fire safety documentation
  • Schemes of arrangement of system elements
  • Data sheets for all components

Operating documentation

We also prepare a set of operational documentation for your customers:

  • Instructions for use of the system
  • Schedule of inspections and maintenance
  • Warranty conditions
  • Post-production documentation
  • Technical acceptance protocols

These documents are written in an accessible language and contain all the information you need to use the system safely and effectively.

Support in the documentation process

As an Electrotile Certified Architect, you can count on our documentation support. We provide:

  • Design Document Templates
  • CAD/BIM Detail Library
  • Technical consultation at the design stage
  • Assistance in the preparation of special documentation
  • Assistance in making arrangements with appraisers

Updates and Compliance

Regulations on BIPV systems are constantly evolving, especially in the context of the EU's RepowerEU programme. We make sure that our documentation is always up to date and in accordance with the latest legal requirements.

Importantly, our systems already meet the requirements that will apply from 2029, when all new residential buildings will have to be equipped with photovoltaic systems.

Complete formal and legal documentation is a key element of any project using Electrotile systems. As a certified architect, you have access to all the necessary documents and technical support, which greatly simplifies the design process and subsequent implementation.

Please note that if you have any questions or concerns regarding the documentation, you can always contact our technical support department. We are here to help you with even the most demanding projects.
